Marc Jacobs released his “grunge” collection for Perry Ellis

Plaid shirts and ripped jeans in the spirit of Kurt Cobain

Marc Jacobs released his “grunge” collection for spring-summer 1993, designed for American brand Perry Ellis and made him famous. The designer became the creative Director of the brand in 1988 after the death of its founder Perry Ellis.

The collection, inspired by the style of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, took place in November 1992 in new York. It was attended by Christy Turlington, Kate moss, Naomi Campbell and Kristen mcmenamy, and backstage show rock group Sonic Youth made a video for their song “Sugar Kane” with Chloe sevigny in the title role. In January of the following year, Jacobs received the award from the American Council of fashion designers (CFDA) in the nomination “designer of the year”. Soon after he left Perry Ellis and in 1997, became the creative Director of Louis Vuitton.

For reissue Jacobs repeated all 26 of the looks from the collection, including shoes and accessories. It included plaid shirts, pants and skirts, translucent dress and ripped jeans, cotton shirts and denim jackets. On sale all things will come very soon — within the cruise collection Marc Jacobs.
